We encourage that original fascias are discarded in most situations but if your old fascias are free from rot you can actually “cap” the existing fascia with a 10mm capping board explicitly designed for the job. This will certainly minimize the cost of materials and waste disposal and can be a perfectly acceptable option delivering the same finish and durability as fascia replacement at a lower price when installed effectively.
