Time to replace your flat roof?
So you have decided to replace your flat roof and here are RoofTiler.co.uk`s three Flat roofing solutions to choose from:
3 layer torch-on felt flat roof
The Torch-on felt system is my own prefered solution for most new flat roof installations. It has been avaliable in the British market for many years and its durability has been thoroughly tested. A new 3 layer torch-on felt roof has an expected lifetime in excess 20 years Installed properly and with high quality materials they can last anywhere upto 60 years. Bitumin has been used as a roof covering in this country since the time of the Romans and with good reason. Bitumin is watertight, longlasting and flexible. Our 3 layer torch on felt system is a very good and dependable system continuously tested and improved in this country for many, many years.
GRP fibre glass flat roof
GRP Fibreglass has an expected useful life time in excess of 20 years, it has a tough, tear resistant surface and a pleasing finish. Grp Fiberglass is an extremly suitable solution when working on high detail flat roofs. Due to its liquid onto matting application method GRP Fibreglass can be easily formed into any shape. It is very important that GRP fibreglass is installed in dry weather, moisture will spoil the resins if applied in damp conditions.
Epdm rubber flat roof
The EPDM Rubber system is very suitable low detail jobs, the beauty of the product is that it comes in one seamless roll. Our installers will glue the rubber membrane into position on a newly laid deck with deck and contact adhesives. A new EPDM Rubber roof will have a lifetime in excess 20 years. In my experience the product is excellent for applications such as small bay roofs and smaller low detail jobs where it`s seamless application allows for a job with virtually no weak points. However the material has low tear resistance. I would not recommend installing one beneth a slate roof for this reason.
There are many variables which influence the cost to replace a flat roof. The different systems are explained in more detail on their respective pages
